Typescript copies of correspondence, land papers, wills, and other estate papers, ca. 1766-1936, of Harmon Davis and his descendants, including genealogical information on the Davis and related Goggans, Leavell, and West families in South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Texas. Arranged as follows: Davis genealogy (pages 1-78); followed by 18 typescript pages of correspondence, ca. 1862-1888, including letters from family members serving in Confederate army, writing from Lawrenceville, Ga., Charleston, S.C.; Chattanooga, Tenn.; and the Virginia battlefields near West Point, Fredericksburg, and Culpepper Court House. Other items date to Reconstruction era and beyond; areas represented include Laurens County, S.C. and Augusta, Ga.; transcripts of correspondence followed by related family genealogies, some including annotations.
